I say Boom Chicka Boom (children echo: I say Boom Chicka Boom)
I say Boom Chicka Boom (and so forth…)
I say Boom Chicka Rocka Chicka Rocka Chicka Boom
Oh yeah? I lift my hands up, mimicking the rising pitch of my voice, and they do the same
Uh huh. I lower my hands, mimicking the lowering pitch of my voice.
Next time,
we’ll do it slower/faster
Then we do it again, with variations, not only slower or faster, but maybe holding our noses, quiet, loud, and finally I might say, “We’ll start with Z,” and replace the first letter like this:
I say zoom zicka zoom…
I say zoom zicka zocka zicka zocka zicka zoom
Oh yeah, uh huh…
The children usually really like this, and are motivated to try all different letters.
One version I share after we’ve done this is:
To the moon, to the moon
To the moon, to the moon
To the moon, take a rocket, take a rocket to the moon.
(oh yeah, uh huh…)
Another is:
Sweep a broom, sweep a broom
Sweep a broom, sweep a broom
Sweep a broom, push a mop-a push a mop-a sweep a broom
(oh yeah, uh huh…)
