Owing to an abundance of overnight rain the woods were full of many different kinds of mushrooms on our first nature walk. There were exclaims of “mushroom” from many of the children as we walked the trails.
Upon closer observation of one of the mushrooms something strange was noticed.
Kyla – It’s a snake.
Alex – No. A snake is very long, not short.
Kyla – It’s not a snake. It’s nothing.
Will – I think it is a slug.
Kyla – I think it is a slug. A snake?
Kyla – It has two nostrils sticking out of his nose.
Alex – I don’t know what it is. We haven’t seen something like that.
On looking closer.
Alex – His whole nostril went in his nose. It’s moving. It went in. It’s alive.
Will – I found another one of those things.
Thomas – It is a slug. If you speak loud you’ll scare it.
Kyla – That’s nature. Oooh – good nature.
