We’ve been together in Studio Yellow for just over a month – children are becoming accustomedto the routines as well as socially growing more comfortable. We are delighted to watch as they begin to forge bonds, yet we nevertheless are still met with “him,” “her,” “that other teacher,” and even,“which one is she?” when referring to a particular child. In response, we are continuing our ongoing efforts to help shape our group and foster deeper connections.
In doing so, we are currently working with children mainly in pairs, so that we may all learn exactly what it is that makes each of us so unique. Using natural materials, children are just beginning to create their own self-portraits. We’re examining not only physical characteristics but we will also be “interviewing” each other to truly gain a sense of who we all are.
