This is an invitation for discussions around science topics; sometimes children blurt out their own answers to the questions as we sing, providing an opportunity for a longer discussion about the properties of fire, snow, the moon, and the wind.
Children have also made up their own versions (e.g., “What makes the cheetah fast?”). This allows discovery for what children are thinking about, to find out what each other know, and what interests children have in common.
