Learning is happening all around us and we work to capture this process in many ways. As we document learning, we are always telling a story. These stories are subjective and when we share them with children we offer them a different lens from which to reflect on what has taken place. When we write these stories down, we call them learning stories.
A learning story captures a moment. It may be as short as one paragraph or one page or longer. It is a teacher sharing back with a child something they have seen that child do, say or represent. It makes visible to the child the learning that the teacher has witnessed.
We will share these learning stories within the children’s sketchbooks. We may also post them on the blog. Below is a learning story written to Ruth.
