Having snack is a time to take a break, eat, drink some water, and converse with others. This small group gathering gives space and time for reflection and connection. Children tell stories from home and school. They look around the studio at what is taking place. They hear updates from others who are at play and plan what they wish to do next. At the snack table, children are learning. Their investigation of their social and physical worlds does not cease once they sit down to eat. In the moment captured above, the group was talking about the hotel construction project out in the back sandbox.
Where did we get the idea to build a hotel? Beatrice
Brooke and me and Charlie, we started building it in the back playground and we didn’t want to use the entire sandbox because other kids also use the playground. Ryan
