Studio Purple, Week 8

“A memory can’t make you laugh!”

-Tessa

How do you remember?

“I just think about where I went.”
-Sam

Very often in Studio Purple, we inform the children that drawing is a wonderful way to remember something.  Perhaps something, they constructed in blocks, a friend they played with or even something they did with their family.  This week, we introduced the children’s clipboards.  Here is a place in which they can draw and keep those memories.

From the story, Wilford Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox, a young boy asks his father…

“What’s a memory?”

“It is something you remember.”

Mem Fox continues to define a memory in her story as

…”Something warm.”
…”Something from long ago.”
…”Something that makes you cry.”
…”Something that makes you laugh.”
…”Something as precious as gold.”

“Hey!  We just did memories” -Alex

By capturing our memories, how will they make us more visible ?

This week on color…

“We’re making the same color.  Try some more Blue” -Charlie Kelly

“Yeah.  I might need a lot more Blue!  How’s yours?” -Charlie Menke

“It’s good!”

“I think I’m making Orange.  I think a little bit more Yellow.  Maybe?  Maybe a little more Yellow…” -Eva

Teamwork…

Amelia, Tessa, and Kyla are building on the back play space on Tuesday.  They find a tree cut and want to incorporate it into their play, but it’s too heavy for them to move.  They begin calling out for other classmates to help.  Fortunately, Emma, Victoria, and Eva arrive on the scene ready to help.  Everyone is delighted!

“It’s so many hands!”  TESSA

On Friday, Amelia, Tessa, and Kyla need help once again, but this time they know who to turn to for help.

“We need your help!  We need your help!”
