Bridges

Bridges have been on the minds of the children in Studio Purple for some time now.  Not always spoken but clearly visible in their play.  Recently, we’ve taken to reading the chapter book My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett.  We need not tell you the plot of these 3 tales as many of you are familiar with this much beloved book spanning the years since first published in 1948!  The children most familiar with this first tale, eagerly await the “exciting” parts having some difficulty holding back their knowing already!  To slow us down a bit as we navigate along with the protagonist in his search for the captured dragon, we stumbled upon stopping at the chapter titled “My father makes a bridge.”  A bridge?!  How perfect!  What do we know about bridges?  How are they made?  What does my father do to make his bridge?  What happens when you cross the bridge?

“It takes both sides to build a bridge.”
