A B Squeeze

A B Squeeze – adapted by Mark Weltner from the traditional alphabet song

Self-regulation, literacy

  • I got this idea after reading Anne Green Gilbert’s version of Hickory Dickory Dock (see her book Brain Compatible Dance Education) and learning about her BrainDance technique. If you don’t know about her, you need to! Here’s the website of the Creative Dance Center which she founded in Seattle. I was so excited when I created this version that I emailed her to tell her!

  • This is another song that is excellent for bringing focus to a group that is feeling antsy.

  • I also have another version I call A B Whee in which everyone is standing and we jump up and spin in all the places where squeeze is in this one (saying “whee!” instead of “squeeze”).
